No matter what his fortune turns out to be Maki always adds in his free spirited nature with his predetermined attitude for the day. Maki usually establishes himself in directly as the odd one out, with his personality changing on a daily basis it makes it difficult for anyone to genuinely understand his him and his philosophy.
History: Maki was born to the parents of Kento and Tsuki Houjo, his father is a local magician and his mother is a self proclaimed psychic. Its no surprise that Maki turned out as sort of an odd ball growing up. In the younger years of his academic life Maki would always practice doing magic in the class room and wowing all of his class mates. With the help of his father Maki became pretty good at illusions and tricks, not to mention his sleight of hand capabilities lured him to a creature habit of larceny for a short while. By the time Maki was 10 years old he became enthralled with the art and wonders of mysticism and wanted to venture above and beyond illusions and common deception, this was when he turned to his mother, Tsuki. Since his mother was only a self proclaimed psychic her abilities as a spiritual medium were often in question. Maki's mother would often make post predictions to events that have already happened but very people had heard about, thus leaving Maki without a paddle to venture further into mysticism.
However his mother did come through for him with a deck of cards that were owned by his great grandmother who was a sort of palm reader/ gypsy. The deck of cards contained allegorical representations of vices, virtues and elemental forces. The deck of cards were most commonly known as tarot cards however the representational figures were different and seemed unique soley to that deck of cards, no where else in the world was health represented by a decaying skeleton. He came to dub the deck of cards as the "Cards of Contradiction". At any rate Maki soon fell in love with his tarots as he used them everyday as insight to his fortunes and magically had a majority of his card predictions come true. To Maki the mystic prowess of fortune and predictions was something to behold and everyday since then he has carried his "Cards of Contradiction" with him and used them as his guide through life.
